They make this argument because they failed to understand the way in which God created man.
When we think deep enough and ask God to help us understand, we will begin to realize that there are TWO types of Powers that the existence of all created things and beings depend on.
The FIRST type of power is the Power of God.
This is a self generated Power originating from God's love.
With this Power, God created all things.
The SECOND type of Power is the Power that God arranged for His creations to produce for themselves in order to sustain their existence, growth and multiplication.
This type of Power is not self generated but it depends on Give and Take actions between things/beings and within things/ beings. Through the Give and Take actions that takes place within beings and between beings, POWER is generated to enable things/beings to Exist, Grow and Multiply.
If we look at the life of a healthy Plant for example, there are Give and Take actions within the Plant as well as between the Plant and the larger World. The moment these Give and Take actions stop, the Plant will die.
We can therefore say that the Quality of a being's physical life depends on the Quality of the Give and Take actions that take place within that being and between that being and the other beings around it.
In the case of Human beings, we are not beings with just physical bodies. We are also beings with highly functional Emotions, Intellect and Will.
Therefore, in the case of human beings, even though the Give and Take actions that take place on the physical level are important, the quality of Give and Take actions that take place on the level of Emotion and Intellect Vertically and Horizontally are also important.
When we engage in Give and Take actions centering on God centered Positive Thoughts and Emotions, we generate Positive Powers to nurture the existence and growth of our inner self. However, if we choose to engage in Give and Take actions centering on selfish Negative Thoughts and Emotions, we will naturally generate Negative Powers capable of poisoning the growth our inner self.
A person who keeps on choosing to engage in give and take actions centering on Hateful thoughts and emotions that activity will naturally generate the Power of hatred and this Power of hatred will then take control of his or her life. He or she will then reap the consequences accordingly.
In history, we saw what ugly things can happen when a great number of people choose to engage in give and take actions centering on flawed ideals that incited hatred aimed at a targeted group of people.
When Adolf Hitler managed to put into motion Give and Take actions among a large number of people centering around some highly negative charged emotions of hatred and false pride, the World was plunged into the horrors of World War 2. As the negative Give and Take actions gained momentum, people were not controlled by reasons anymore but they allowed themselves to be controlled by the Powers of hatred and false pride.
If human affairs depended on God's Powers alone, then the problems of Evil could have been solved quickly. The truth is, in order to sustain Existence, Growth and Multiplications, God has arranged for human beings and all things to generate life sustaining powers through Give and Take actions. Therefore, the quality of Give and Take actions that human beings choose to engage in will determine the healthy state of human societies.
How the Devil gained Powers from viewpoint of give and take principles
The reason why the Devil can become powerful is because, through their own free will, man chose to engage in Give and Take actions with him centering on selfishness and lies. By seducing man to believe in selfish ideals and lies that would incite feelings of hostility and distrust towards God, the Devil has cleverly trapped man under his bondage. In a sense, through applying the principles of Give and Take actions, the Devil not only managed to generated Powers of Evil for himself but he has also tied man's destiny to his own.
This has caused great complications because if God were to immediately destroy the Devil, God would also have to immediately destroy Man who has chosen to engage in Give and Take actions with the Devil through his own free Will.
We can say that the Devil has MISUSED the principle of Give and Take actions to gain Evil Powers for himself. Should God then abolish the principle governing Give and Take actions since created beings can misuse it and can generate Evil Powers through it? It is not difficult to see that there is nothing wrong with the principle itself. The principle of Give and Take actions can be used to generate the Powers of goodness or the Powers of evil. It would ultimately depend on man's choice. The only effective way for the Devil to lose his Powers over this World is for man to stop engaging in Give and Take actions with him consciously or unconsciously. When more and more people stop believing in falsehoods and lies, the Devil's Powers will become weakened. Unlike God, the Devil does not have self generated Powers of his own. The Devil gained his Powers through Give and Take actions with with humans and with other angelic beings.
Defeating Evil
The good news is that God do not need a majority of people to re create the World He originally intended. Yet, it is God's hope that as many people as possible can turn away from the Devil before the time of Judgment. Yes, God has appointed a time when He will execute Judgments to make a final end to evil.
In order to help man to separate from the Devil, there are two things that God has been helping man to do. Firstly, God has been helping man to reject the lies of the Devil and to accept the way of truth. Secondly, God has also made a special way for man to become free from the covenant (or rather bondage) established between man and the Devil. We need to understand why even if man decides to reject the Devil's lies and accept God's truths, man is not yet in the position where he can be free from the Devil.
Many religious people thought that all it takes to defeat the Powers of Evil in this World is for man to study about what is good and then to descipline himself and practice what is true by rejecting what is false.
What many do not realize is that the Devil did not only invite man to follow his lies and wicked ways but through misusing the principle of Give and Take actions, he has cleverly trapped man in an unholy covenant / bondage with him.
In order to understand how man has voluntarily walked into an unholy covenant / bondage under the great tempter, we need to re examine the hints behind the Garden of Eden story as told in the Bible.
We also need to re examine the way God created man and endowed him with the responsibilities to engage in the type of Give and Take actions that would result in the perfection of his heart.
A time for Growing into Maturity
"A flower does not "open" until it is sufficiently matured. Should we force the flower to "open" before it has become matured enough?"
God didn't create a perfect fleshly body for man and then just drop into that fleshly vessel, a heart that is fully matured in Love. If this was the case, then almost immediately after being created, man would have had the ability to perfectly appreciated God with a heart that is matured with God's Love. Such a man would never have misused his free will to disobey God. This is because man would love God so much that he would never want to do anything that would hurt God or cause him to become separated from God. No, we cannot say that man betrayed God at a time when his heart was matured with God's Love. It would be like saying God's love is imperfect. When the heart of man become matured with God's love, his love for God would have motivated him to make the right choice instead of the wrong ones.
What we can say is that after creating man, God planted a seed of pure love in his heart. There is nothing wrong about beginning our journey in life with a seed of pure Love that has yet to mature. But we must understand that the seed of pure Love inside man's heart must go through a period of growth to reach maturity. During the period of growth, did man know how to really appreciate God's Love yet? No, he did not and there was nothing wrong with that because even though their heart of love was not matured yet, the seed of Love in their heart was still pure and not corrupted.
Therefore, under God's heaven, there's a time for everything. There's a time to enjoy the purity of childhood, and a time to enjoy the sacred sexual union between a husband and a wife who have become matured under God's Blessings. Even when we think in terms of today's World, what happens when Two individuals, whose heart of Love are still immature engage in sexual union and then give birth to babies? Will that couple be in the position to channel God's Love properly to their children?
Perfection of Love, not fear of punishments because of laws is the goal.
God knows that when man's heart of Love becomes fully matured, man will have perfect appreciation of God's Love. Such a person will be happy when God is happy and sad, when God is sad. When the power of matured Love bonds two beings together, the bonding is so strong that they will never want to do anything that can cause them to separate from each other. God ultimately wanted and still wants man to be united with Him through the Power of Love and not through the Power of force or even through the fear of punishments under the Laws. Man's growing up and becoming matured in Love is the goal. Laws and commandments are not the goal but laws became the means to get to the goal. It is unfortunate that some people think that man should become slaves to the Laws and lose sight of the real goal. For this, Jesus strongly hinted that the Laws were made for man and not, man made for the Laws.
Children when young may think that Parents enjoy it when children obey them out of fear. The truth in most cases is that parents are longing for the time when the child's heart has become matured and will do what is right out of their own initiatives. Parents longs for a time when they can relate to their children heart to heart. A time when children can decide not to do what is wrong because they love their parents so much and do not want to see them hurt. Even in the relationship between husband and wife, surely any wife would prefer a partner who can decide against engaging in extra marital affairs because he loves her so much and cannot stand to see her hurt. This is so much better than when the partner is afraid of engaging in wrong doings because he is afraid about not fulfilling his duty as a husband. Doing things out of fear is only effective when we sense that the other person in the relationship can punish us if we do not do as expected. In the case of children who are raised in an environment where they learn to do things just out of fear, what happens when they go to live in a far away place? The child will feel that he can now try out doing those things that he was not allowed to do when he was at home with his parents. In the case of a married couple, what happens when the husband becomes no longer afraid of what his wife will do? In man's relationship with God, what happens when man starts to think that he is smarter than God because of the progress he sees himself making in science and technology? Whether the sense of how the other person in the relationship can punish us is one that is real or not, it doesn't change the fact that relationships that are built on fear will never be as strong as relationships that are built on love. This is why in the relationship between God and man, oneness in love was and still is the goal whereas obedient to laws only served as the means to reach the goal.
When the seed of pure Love in man's heart reaches maturity, he will become fully sensitive to God's vertical Love. He can then substantiate God's vertical love in his horizontal relationships with his peers. Jesus therefore, explained that all Laws and commandments are in fact based on the Two commandments - the first of which is to love God with all our heart, all our mind and all our soul. The second is to love our neighbors as ourselves. Without centering on principles supporting God's Ideals of Love, religious people can never come to understand the deeper meanings of God's truth or gain deeper insights into God's Original Plans.
Had the heart of the first man and woman become matured enough to handle the responsibilities of raising up children, God would have guided them to engage in a sacred sexual union with each other under His Holy Blessings. Their coming together to become oneness in body and soul would have been more beautiful than any fairy tale books can describe. The entire universe would have applauded with great joy and excitement.
Corruption of love separated Man and God.
Now that we understand that man's maturity of love in man's heart and the true love between man and woman were the most important thing to God and to man, what do you think the Devil tried so hard to corrupt?
Yes, if the Devil can corrupt man's heart and prevent man from perfecting or maturing in his heart of love, everything will become fragmented almost by themselves.
When the seed of pure love, given by God became corrupted before it could reach maturity, everything else became corrupted. Corrupted Love became the core of man's Emotions, Intellectual and Will. The desires of his flesh became stronger than the desires of his Spirit.
Apostle Paul lamented that his body was constantly at war with his spirit. Our mind desires to do the will of God but our flesh wants us to do things that are against the will of God.
What we need to realize is that there is period of growth that Adam and Eve had to go through before their hearts of Love could reach maturity. We also need to realize that without FREE WILL during the period of growth, then the terms, "maturity of Love" has no meaning. In order to fulfill our intended purpose as a being who can respond to God with love, God had to grant human being free will.
